After numerous issues in recent years, the World Bank decided to co-fund the Odra-Vistula Flood Management Project. Now, as they continue their work in Szczecin and Wroclaw, Sweco will join the team after agreeing deals with the Regional Water Management Authority in both locations. Together, they’ll continue their journey towards a safer country for the people living in these areas.
President of Sweco Central Europe, Ina Brandes, said “Ensuring and improving flood protection is one of the most important factors in securing the sustainable social and economic development of a region or country. Being selected for these projects in Poland is a testament to Sweco’s recognised expertise in flood protection”.
For Poland, this is somewhat of a unique project and Sweco will be providing a consultancy service for the Regional Water Management Authorities in both Wroclaw and Szczecin. Among other things, this will include the verification of designs, the creation of new designs, the supervision of construction, and an assistance with all environmental and social safeguard documents.
In total, the contracts cover a time-frame of around six and a half years and the combined contracts come to a value of €27 million.
