Six investors have submitted their projects to secure grant financing under a €200 million scheme managed by Romania, aimed at boosting the development of photovoltaic (PV) panels and power storage battery plants. This initiative is part of the National Resilience Facility (PNRR), with the goal of completing these projects by mid-2026.
Funding Allocation and Project Goals
The scheme allocates €150 million to support the establishment of PV panel plants, while the remaining €50 million is dedicated to factories focusing on power storage batteries. These factories will be responsible for manufacturing, assembling, or recycling PV panels and power storage batteries.
Capacity Targets
The initiative aims to develop battery production, assembly, and recycling facilities with a combined capacity of at least 2 GW per year. Additionally, it targets a combined capacity of 200 MW per year for the manufacturing, assembly, and recycling of PV panels.
Conclusion
This grant scheme represents a significant step towards enhancing Romania's renewable energy infrastructure, fostering innovation in PV panel and battery production, and contributing to the country’s sustainable development goals.
