Thai President Foods, a global leader in the instant noodle market, is set to significantly expand its European presence with a major investment in Hungary. The company’s Hungarian subsidiary, Thai President Foods (Hungary) Kft., which was established in 2013 as the first European branch of the Bangkok-based corporation founded over 50 years ago, is launching an ambitious expansion project in its Esztergom facility.
The expansion, valued at approximately €45.3 million, will see the development of a dedicated spice manufacturing plant and the installation of new production lines. The first phase includes constructing a modern, solar-roofed hall that will serve as the foundation for the upcoming spice center, additional production lines, and enhanced storage capacity. With completion scheduled for 2026, this strategic investment will eliminate the need to import raw materials from Thailand—nearly 9,000 kilometers away—as most inputs, from flour to packaging materials, will be sourced locally.
Driven by insights that Thailand’s domestic market is maturing and growing only modestly (1-2% per year), Thai President Foods is poised to capitalize on the significant growth opportunities in Europe. Already the number one instant noodle brand in the Scandinavian countries and well-positioned in Western Europe, the expansion is expected to boost Europe’s contribution to the company’s overall revenue from 20-25% to 40%.
The Esztergom facility not only strengthens Thai President Foods’ manufacturing capabilities in Europe but also supports its robust export operations, currently supplying products to 68 countries worldwide. Under the flagship brands Mama and Thai Chef, the company continues to set industry standards for quality and innovation.
This strategic move is a clear testament to Thai President Foods' commitment to sustainable growth and operational excellence, solidifying its role as a key player in the fast-moving consumer goods sector across Europe.
