In their facility in Russia, Archangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill (APPM) will soon be introducing an automation rebuild and an extensive board machine two (BM2). After contacting Valment, they will be supplying the Valment OptiConcept M machine which is new to the market. In addition to this, there will be improvements to the ring section as well as a machine control system upgrade and a new dry end.
With an investment of up to €60 million, the machine rebuild is expected to occur in the latter half of 2018. Producing kraftliner grades with a weight range of 90-200 g/m2, the BM2 stands 7,000mm wide and has a design speed of 1,000m/min. With this in mind, production will be at around 330ktpa. With a total cost of €125 million, this new rebuild comes as part of the ‘Reconstruction of Board Department’ investment project currently being undertaken by the company. If successful, production is set to increase by 30% upon completion.
