Located in Klaipeda, Lithuania, Grigeo Klaipedos Kartonas AB will be rebuilding their board machine. Upon completion, capacity will be increased by 30% and the quality of products will improve thanks to modernisations that will be carried out by Voith.
As well as a change in the wire section, completely new drives will be installed in the dryer section and this change is expected to take place any time now. Once the modernisation process has taken place, 130ktpa will be the expected output of corrugated board and testliner that has a base weight of between 90-200g/m2.
In all, the company has huge plans to double their production capacity by 2021 and this move is just the first in a three-step plan to achieve this goal. Currently, the company is under the control of Grigeo Grigiskes after acquiring the business in 2010. According to last year’s data, Lithuania is increasing its share within the paper product industry and enjoyed growth of 27% in 2015 alone.
