Hebie, a German component maker, has altered its strategy somewhat in recent times having discontinued its luggage carrier range for after-market sales. Furthermore, this change in strategy has now been confirmed after they announced the acquisition of Koch, a metal processing company.
In a press release, the company said “The main reason to stop AM sales of this specific product range is that Hebie will no longer be in the position to provide all the services that go with AM sales from one location.” Also, they said in the same statement of the continuation of the luggage carriers OEM business.
Although the AM luggage carrier surprised many, Hebie said that it was no longer profitable. As the statement continued “The strategic orientation also includes expansion to other markets. Therefore we acquired the German metal processor Koch. This company will be integrated into the Bielefeld site and significantly enhances Hebie’s manufacturing expertise. In line with our philosophy this company focusses on high-end products of a consistent quality while Koch also brings many years of experience in aluminium and stainless steel processing.”
