Ilim has recently contacted ANDRITZ to purchase another plant for wood processing. Ilim is the top pulp and paper company in Russia and one of the largest internationally and aims to start production in the new Koryazhma plant in mid-2021. The plant, situated in the Arkhangelsk region will have 2 debarking and chipping lines. A Smart Woodyard control system will be added to the mill alongside chip and bark handling equipment.
The new technology will have important environmental impact. As well as providing high quality woodchip, ANDRITZ’s technology also makes savings in operating costs, raw materials, and reduces the release of emissions. The new system will be a complete replacement for the pneumatic systems already in place. Some of the extras included in the ANDRITZ order are state of the art handling equipment and storage, a de-icing process for logs, new bark presses, horizontal feed HHQ Chipper and advanced control system. The SmartWoodyard includes Decision Support Wall (DSW) and other systems like WoodScan, ChipperEKG, ScanChip, BarkScan, to optimize production processes through the use of smart sensors.
