German retailer, KiK Textilien, has outlined ambitious plans to expand its footprint in Romania, unveiling intentions to inaugurate approximately 30 new stores in 2023 as part of its broader growth strategy. This comes as KiK endeavors to solidify its presence and meet the burgeoning demand in the region.
KiK marked its entry into the Romanian market back in 2018 with the inauguration of its inaugural store in Oradea. Since then, the retailer has experienced robust growth, establishing 117 stores across the country, forming part of its extensive network of over 4,000 stores throughout Europe, including 2,600 in its home country, Germany.
The retailer, as cited by Economedia.ro, continues its dynamic expansion in Romania, aspiring to achieve a balanced presence across the nation, with planned establishments making up 60% in county capitals and 40% in intermediate and smaller cities. The expansion is anticipated to further boost employment, adding to the current workforce of over 700 in Romania.
KiK has witnessed substantial financial growth in the region, reporting a turnover of RON 251.5 million (EUR 50.6 million) at the conclusion of the previous year, showcasing a remarkable 36% increase compared to 2021.
KiK’s expansion strategy emphasizes its commitment to ensuring optimal accessibility to its quality products for customers across Romania, contributing to the economic vibrancy of the various locales it operates in.
