The South Korean gaming giant Neowiz has made a strategic investment in the Polish game development scene by acquiring a substantial stake in the emerging studio Blank for USD 17 million.
This investment places Blank's valuation at approximately PLN 330 million (EUR 75 million). Blank, recognized for its team of experienced professionals, including ex-members of CD Projekt RED, is in the process of creating its first game, provisionally titled Rh+.
Reported by Puls Biznesu, Neowiz's investment is perceived as a tactical initiative to amplify its global footprint in the gaming sector. This move comes at a time when the industry is navigating through various challenges, such as lower company valuations and funding hurdles. Nevertheless, Neowiz's decision signals strong confidence in Blank's capabilities and future prospects.
Currently, Blank has a dedicated team of 16 employees and is looking forward to expanding its workforce. This acquisition by Neowiz marks a significant moment in the gaming industry, which is currently experiencing cautious market conditions and production challenges.
