Hyundai E&C and Aecom Partner for Reconstruction of Ukraine's Boryspil Airport
Hyundai Engineering & Construction (E&C) and Aecom, a global engineering consultancy, have formalized agreements to play pivotal roles in the reconstruction of Ukraine's Boryspil International Airport, Kyiv's largest aviation hub.
Aecom has announced its commitment through a memorandum of understanding (MOU), positioning itself as a key partner in the airport's rebuild. The firm will contribute to various aspects of the reconstruction, including assessments of asset conditions, design, engineering, program management, and construction management.
Hyundai E&C, notable for being the only Korean contractor participating in the 'Rebuild Ukraine' event held in Warsaw (14-15 November), has confirmed its involvement in the project. The company will focus on the refurbishment and expansion of the airport's terminals and runways.
Oleksiy Dubrevskyy, Director General of Boryspil International Airport, highlighted the significance of this memorandum in the rejuvenation of Ukraine's aviation sector. This project is part of a broader initiative for the restoration and modernization of national airports and the aviation industry under the guidance of Ukraine's Ministry of Community, Territory, and Infrastructure Development.
Before the suspension of Ukraine's airspace due to the ongoing Russian invasion, Boryspil Airport was handling nearly 9.5 million passengers annually.
