Hengst Filtration Acquires Former IAC Factory in Romania for Air Filter Production
Germany's Hengst Filtration has acquired the former International Automotive Components (IAC) facility in Balş, southern Romania, with plans to manufacture air filters, as reported by the city's mayor, Cătălin Rotea.
Rotea announced that Hengst Filtration intends to relocate a factory from Germany to Balş. He stated, "In January, they aim to have the factory operational, and by December, their goal is to employ at least 100 people, with plans for several hundred jobs in the upcoming years." This statement was highlighted by Ziarul Financiar.
IAC, a Luxembourg-registered firm and a primary supplier for Ford, had initially invested EUR 58 million in 2011 to build a greenfield production site in Balş, Olt county. This location is nearly 30 kilometers from Ford's Craiova plant. The investment included EUR 17 million in state aid and promised to create 400 jobs. Hengst's recent acquisition marks a significant development in the region's industrial landscape.
