Schneider Electric is significantly expanding its manufacturing presence in Hungary with the launch of a new 18,000-square-metre facility at its Duna Smart Power Systems (DSPS) smart factory in Dunavecse. Backed by an additional €44 million investment, this expansion follows last year’s successful DSPS plant launch and reinforces Schneider Electric’s strategy of flexible capacity adaptation and incremental growth.
The expansion leverages a strategically acquired 10-hectare site, setting the stage for increased production capabilities. Schneider Electric, a global leader in industrial technology and a trusted partner in sustainability and energy efficiency, sees this move as a direct response to the rising global demand for low-voltage distribution equipment. "Our expansion in Dunavecse is a key milestone that will enable us to better serve our customers worldwide," said Yann Reynaud, Senior Vice President of Global Engineering to Order Operations at Schneider Electric.
In the first phase, the DSPS plant focused on enhancing sustainability and energy efficiency through the integration of Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure platform, which provides advanced online monitoring and a robust communication network for proactive maintenance. This innovative approach has already delivered significant improvements in operational efficiency and product quality.
Schneider Electric’s commitment to sustainability is well recognized, with accolades from TIME magazine and Corporate Knights naming it the world’s most sustainable company. The DSPS plant itself has received several awards, including the Hungarian Real Estate Development Excellence Award in the Industry category, the Zero Carbon Award from the Hungarian Green Building Association, and recognition among the top three projects at the “Green Awards powered by Green Cloud.” Additionally, it was a finalist in the BTS (Build-To-Suit) category of the CRE Awards and received the “Best Technology Investment of the Year” award from the Joint Venture Association.
With the extended facility, Schneider Electric will begin producing low-voltage distribution equipment, complementing its existing portfolio of SF6-free medium-voltage switchgear RM AirSeT and medium-voltage air-insulated switchgears.
This expansion not only strengthens Schneider Electric’s regional footprint in Hungary but also bolsters its global leadership in delivering sustainable, cutting-edge industrial solutions.
