Hungerit Zrt. is set to transform its poultry operations in Szentes with a cutting-edge, greenfield chicken slaughtering and processing facility, backed by a €97.6 million investment. Spanning 23,000 square meters, this state-of-the-art plant will double the company’s annual processing capacity starting in 2026.
Headquartered in Szentes, one of Hungary’s oldest meat industry firms with over 100 years of expertise in poultry processing and meat production, Hungerit Zrt. currently processes approximately 22 million broiler chickens and 11 million ducks each year, generating around 70,000 tons of meat products. Its flagship brand, VALDOR, specializes in processed, breaded, and ready-to-cook products that cater to both domestic and international markets.
As a proud member of the Bonafarm Group, Hungerit Zrt. is investing in advanced technology to meet the increasing and evolving consumer demand. The new facility, located in the Szentes Industrial Park, will not only feature innovative processing technologies but will also integrate modern logistics and quality control systems to ensure high standards of production. This expansion is expected to raise the annual poultry processing capacity to 44 million birds, significantly strengthening Hungerit Zrt.'s market position.
The food industry is a critical driver of Hungary’s economy, employing 145,000 people. Promoting Hungarian-owned enterprises remains a key element of the nation’s economic strategy, as evidenced by HIPA's facilitation of 287 food industry investments totaling €3.88 billion between 2014 and 2024.
With this significant expansion, Hungerit Zrt. is poised to further consolidate its leadership in the poultry sector while contributing to Hungary's robust food production landscape.
